Campers with Special Needs

Campers with Special Needs

Requests for accommodation for any campers with special needs is approached on a case by case basis prior to the beginning of camp. Special needs will be flagged during registration and a conversation will be facilitated by the Camp Manager and Registration Administrator with the parents / guardians of the camper. The conversation will discuss in depth the needs of the child in light of the expectation of campers at camp.

If campers with special needs attend camp, parents must be aware and prepared that they may have to pick up their child at any time. It is at the discretion of the staff who are involved in the care of the camper (director, head counsellors, and nurse) if a camper with special needs must go home during camp. These decisions are to be made in a thoughtful, collaborative, and prayerful way with the goal of camper safety and wellbeing. The decision of staff will then be communicated to the guardians of the camper by a designated staff member.

Stepping Stones Bible Camp does not provide 1:1 care for any campers with special needs. Stepping Stones Bible Camp is willing to be flexible on what camp looks like for a child with special needs, within the capabilities of the organization and the hired staff and counsellors.
